World Rank 10 in MOS Excel World Championship, California

I went on a fully sponsored trip to participate in the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship in Anaheim California.

After returning from the event I had described my experience on the Fame website as below:

“The past few months have not only changed my perception of Microsoft Excel but have helped me become a more confident and motivated person.

Excel is a software that I love using. It’s a beautiful software that assists me in various projects in academics but lets me organize my life. I was very excited to participate in MOS Excel National Championship, organized by FAME Training institute, since the day I had heard about it in my college. They said that winners would go to USA, but I did not realize its significance until I got closer and closer to winning. I cleared the qualifying round and was looking forward to semifinals which had a project based exam. FAME gave us a free practice test which was really helpful. I scored 875/1000 in the practice test, and was disheartened. So, I worked hard on the study material given by FAME and realized there are so many things in Excel that I didn’t know before. I scored 980/1000 in Semi Finals. And I got the certificate stamped from Microsoft that said I am Excel Specialist. I had too much pressure for Finals, for I realized a lot is on stake. I practiced Excel a little more and I scored 1000/1000 in Finals and was declare the National Champion and was going to represent UAE in World Championship in USA!

From that day onwards Fame training was in constant contact with me. Mr. Udit was always there to answer our queries. And eventually I got USA visa stamped on my passport. I worked really hard to get more fluent with Excel. Took many GMetrix tests and made my own spreadsheets, which led me to realize that there is so much more I can do with Excel for now I know the tool in depth.

On 29th of July 2017 we boarded our flight and landed in USA. Mr. Ashwin, from FAME was our chaperon. He was a constant support and source of encouragement for all of us. The venue for the competition was Disneyland Hotel, which was just so grand. There were students from about 56 countries. They were all champions from their country. It was then I realized the importance of my achievement of making it till World Finals. I got the opportunity to interact with students and exchange contacts. On the day of competition I was pretty tensed and tried my best. It was a complex project that I had to create from scratch. I was upset for I thought I could have done much better.

The next day we were taken to Disneyland Park where I realized “Yes, Dreams do come true”, all you need is ambition and lots of hard work. On the day of results we had a grand ceremony with encouraging speeches. Here we were all winners, for we are certified Microsoft Specialists, best in our country. I did not get to top 3, but I was really surprised and glad to know that I ranked 10th. I felt proud.

My achievements would never had been possible without Fame Training, to whom I am very thankful for the opportunity. I would also like to thank my family and my institute Bits Pilani Dubai Campus for their support and encouragement.”‘

Fame training deemed me as “The Pride of UAE” in the following article: Alina bags 10th place

I also gave a radio interview, the recording for which can be found on this youtube link:  Alina Radio interview link
